Curbing Leave Workarounds: Strategies to Promote Appropriate FMLA Usage from a Multi-Disciplinary Perspective
Do your employee patients find creative ways to access additional time off through FMLA usage? Nurses often struggle with the challenge of meeting the needs of their patients while coming up against FMLA roadblocks. This presentation will demonstrate how to address this challenge by offering a unique perspective of the FMLA process through the eyes of a physician, a nurse, an employer and an attorney. Learning about each step of the FMLA process, including information on how to understand the new regulations, dealing with overlap between ADA, state leave laws and workers' compensation, will help the audience make more informed decisions when dealing with the law. This presentation is for an intermediate nursing audience who are familiar with FMLA.
