INDUSTRIAL ATHLETE PROGRAM
Incident Intervention is WorkCare's 24/7 telehealth triage program for the management of work-related injuries, illnesses and physical discomfort. Our occupational health nurses and physicians are always on call to assess symptoms and provide compassionate care guidance with minimal disruption in workflow.
“When we keep it simple and do what’s right for the employee, all the other benefits of our Incident Intervention program naturally fall into place.”
Peter P. Greaney, M.D.Executive Chairman and Chief Medical Officer, WorkCare
We’ve successfully managed hundreds of thousands of injury and illness cases and repeatedly proven that most incidents can be safely managed at the first-aid level with guided self-care. However, when further diagnosis and potential medical treatment is needed, we facilitate referral to a qualified local provider or a virtual telemedicine visit with a WorkCare TeleM.D. occupational doctor.
We follow best medical practices and focus on returning employees to a full- or modified-duty position during recovery because work is therapeutic – physically, mentally and socially. Not working when it is clinically safe to do results in unnecessary absence, increases costs and contributes to the development of a disability mindset.
In a medical emergency, onsite or offsite first responders are notified. In all other cases, the Incident Intervention process is initiated as soon as an employee notifies a supervisor. Examples of typical Incident Intervention conditions include sprains and strains, minor cuts or burns, insect bites and skin rashes, and reactions to extreme temperatures.
For employees with musculoskeletal discomfort, Incident Intervention is the pathway for referral to a WorkCare Industrial Injury Prevention Specialist with training in sports medicine and ergonomics. Our specialists provide onsite and virtual consultations on stretching, workstation adjustments and other interventions to help relieve discomfort and promote recovery.
