The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has activated an Injury Tracking Application link for employers to submit 2016 OSHA Form 300A information.
In a related action, OSHA published a notice of proposed rulemaking to extend the date for certain employers to electronically submit 2016 Form 300A information from July 1, 2017 to Dec. 1, 2017.
Electronic reporting applies to establishments with 250 or more employees that are required to keep OSHA injury and illness records, and establishments with 20-249 employees that are classified in certain industries with historically high rates of occupational injuries and illnesses.
States with their own occupational safety and health governing agencies in which employers are not currently required to submit electronic records include CA, IL, ME, MD, MN, NJ, NY, SC, UT, WA and WY.
Covered employers are required to electronically submit information from OSHA Forms 300 (Log of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses), 300A (Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses) and 301 (Injury and Illness Incident Report). Covered establishments with 20-249 employees must electronically submit Form 300A.
The reporting requirement took effect Jan. 1, 2017, with plans to phase it in over two years.
