Dr. Zender joined WorkCare in 2023 as an onsite Medical Director. She previously served as the Medical Director for a Naval nuclear laboratory and as an occupational Medical Director with a national clinic network. Her occupational and environmental medicine practice experience includes clinical oversight/health care administration; industry-specific medical surveillance and OSHA requirements, zoonotic diseases and toxicology; radiation surveillance and environmental medicine; Federal Aviation Administration and commercial motor vehicle operator exams; work-related injury care, urgent care and wellness; and wilderness medicine with search and rescue. In addition, she has worked with the Indian Health Service and volunteered with a disaster medical assistance team and for disaster preparedness outreach programs. Dr. Zender earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Touro University, Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine, and she is part of the University of Pennsylvania Occupational and Environmental Medicine Residency program. Her second languages includes German, American Sign Language and medical Spanish, and her hobbies include concert pedal harp, knitting, oil painting and judging martial arts competitions.
