Dr. Shirley is the Site Occupational Medical Director (SOMD) for United Clean Up Oak Ridge (UCOR), where he provides occupational medicine, consulting and direction for this U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)-designated company. He is engaged with all local sites of the DOE’s Y-12, K-25, and Oak Ridge National Lab’s land reclamation and construction sites. He joined WorkCare in 2021. His experience includes medical director and staff physician roles at occupational medicine facilities in Tennessee. He earned Medical Doctorate at Emory University School of Medicine and his Maters of Science in Aerospace Medicine at Wright State University School of Medicine. He is a private pilot and served in the U.S. Navy as a Flight Surgeon. In addition to his passion for airplanes and flying, Dr. Shirley’s interests include spending time with family, reading, swimming, weight training and scuba diving.
